Data Collection: "" is not a valid point name

Solution

Applies to:

ProCogo XL - Input Reduction

Issue:

When importing a RAW data file into the Input Reduction section, the following error occurs.

Error "" is not a valid point name.

Once the file is loaded you may notice duplicate setup records where the backsight point is missing in one and the instrument point is missing in the other.

Solution:

The issue occurs in the raw data file when the OC, BK, and (optionally) the LS records are not kept together.  In this example, there is a comment right after the OC record which is causing the problem.

SS,OP16,FP107,AR275.59400,ZE89.04570,SD78.690,--CM
SS,OP16,FP108,AR275.45050,ZE89.11260,SD85.945,--Pine
OC,OP105,N 4894.184,E 5203.302,EL1.588,--FIR|12
--This comment is causing the issue and must be removed.
BK,OP105,BP16,BS235.1119,BC0.0000
SS,OP105,FP110,AR120.49140,ZE88.06070,SD69.665,--CP

Once the comment is deleted, the BK record immediatly follows the OC record and the issue is resolved.

SS,OP16,FP107,AR275.59400,ZE89.04570,SD78.690,--CM
SS,OP16,FP108,AR275.45050,ZE89.11260,SD85.945,--Pine
OC,OP105,N 4894.184,E 5203.302,EL1.588,--FIR|12
BK,OP105,BP16,BS235.1119,BC0.0000
SS,OP105,FP110,AR120.49140,ZE88.06070,SD69.665,--CP

The only exception to this is if an FC record is present for a feature code for the OC point.
